Looks good, but make sure to cook those onions.

I have some leftovers coming by the house soon.

Is it like real banana pudding?

There was a place in Savannah, GA that made banana pudding the way my grandmother did. Very rare to see that anymore.

Yeah those buns were good. Everyone agreed. Kinda a last minute grab, we usually use Dave’s bread (buns) as they hold up well to the burger, but these did too.

Those ribs and the free vacation to Universal both seem nice.

First time doing the smashed burgers with thinly sliced onions right on the burger. I like that style. They did cook down all the way too. Called the Oklahoma onion smash burger.

I prefer the sliced raw but partially cooked looked good too. When I think about going more and browning them I think more caramelized and making it separately with like cooked mushrooms and a red wine + real unsalted butter reduction.

I just researched the Ok onion smash burger it looks like good eats.

quote:

Like the name says–Oklahoma. Legend has it that these juicy onion morsels also called the Depression burger, debuted at the now-defunct Hamburger Inn in 1926. A few years later, these burgers grew in popularity not only because they were delicious but because meat rationing during the Great Depression required innovative ways to stretch out portions and increasing flavor. Adding a heap of onions to a thinner burger patty did just that. There is no arguing that the Oklahoma onion smash burger thrived, and for good reason. These diner burgers are juicy, and the caramelized onions make the entire thing pop. Never made them before? Don’t worry; we’ll walk you through it.

If I caramelize the onions I do that in the bacon fat right after I pull the bacon and then set aside.
