You can buy just about any kind of venomous snake on snake forums. Different states have different laws, require permits, etc. - but I'm sure many sellers don't care as long as you've got the cash and can pick it up in person.

Remember when the bronx zoo had a cobra that escaped back in 2011? he was in all the news stories and he joined twitter and was tweeting some pretty funny stuff while on the loose. Apparently they let him keep his twitter account and he is still at it. LINK
Generally, I don't like snakes but this one seems pretty amusing.

My brother in law's neighbor caught a copperhead and came over to the BIL's saying he was going to put it in his Grandparents mailbox. It did not happen because at some point it crawled out of the bucket.

This kid is the friend of a friend and there's a lot they aren't saying. He has mental issues and was self medicating instead of taking what the doctor's prescribed him and some other things were going on in his life that pushed him over the edge.
