The title says it all, good old fashioned trapping of cats in a neighborhood.

Frowned upon? Trashy? FAF?

A woman posted in a neighborhood group the other day that her cat without a collar was missing. Today she posted that she had found the cat in a trap 1 block over from her house. She talked about how she freed the cat and posted pics of the house doing the trapping. Another poster recommended stealing the trap to prevent this happening in the future.

I interjected that theft and trespassing are against the law, and that posting pictures of the house could make the OP liable if any PETA types decided to vandalize the home. My post received mixed reviews much to my delight.

Where do you stand on this issue which appears to be the dark seedy underbelly of suburban living?

This.

Pay one of the urban youths to do it. They are untouchable by law enforcement.

I picked up a trap today for this exact purpose. I can't use a .22 in a neighborhood. These stray shits are annoying as hell

It was probably a coon or opossum trap but the dumb arse cat got caught instead.

ETA a .22 with some subsonic solves your cat problem.

Trap the damn cat and bring it to a no kill shelter or have a organization have it spayed/neutered and then relocated. No need to kill the fricking thing. Sadistic bastards on here make me fricking sick.

No, no. I live in Shreveport... a suburb of Dallas... to the East.

Stop derailing my thread.

makes sense

as for the thread, you're in the right about the PETA shite. I think cat trapping is pretty trashy though. unless the neighborhood is overrun with strays.

and that dumbass needs to put a collar on her fricking cat

Do you know how many animals cats play with and kill without eating them? I have a (collared, spayed) outdoor cat and this is her list:
8 moles
3 rats
2 baby wood ducks
1 flying squirrel
1 baby regular squirrel

And that's just what she's brought to the front door. I love my cat, she's great to have around and all but there are a lot of other animals dying out there at the hands of strays and other outdoor cats. Sometimes the answer is to bring it to a shelter where it will be put down humanely if no one wants it. Unfortuntate but true.

Well thats illegal so I wouldnt do that. It could also be animal control's property. If I was the cat owner, I would let the person with the trap know that this specific cat is my cat and that if it gets in the trap to please let it go.

She should just talk to them and ask them what they are trapping and maybe keep the cat inside in the meantime.

My neighbor and I are trapping coons right now and have an understanding that my outside cat is to be let loose immediately if she goes in it.

I just picked up a high velocity pellet gun for rabbit harvesting. I'm not gonna use it to purge cats but you could use it in a neighborhood if you wanted to.

My wife has five cats. I'm hoping the bobcats from the creek across the street get hungry soon.
