Horrible. Glad they were removed from duty. Hopefully their Board of Nursing will take some disciplinary action against them. Navy also needs to make sure their replacements are not wearing false fingernails. Most hospitals do not allow false nails. They are especially dangerous in a newborn nursery because of bacteria they harbor. Would like to spend 10 minutes in a room alone with these nurses. Am a retired RN, NICU/Pediatrics.

That's the last time they'll be nurses.

At least they didn't call them corpse-men.

It's not even about "professionalism" per se. Just knowing some a-hole nurse is playing games with my newborn would be enough to send me over the edge.

That level caregiver has no business working in a newborn nursery. They do not have the education to recognize a potential problem. They belong in a rehab area. Disgusting. I had no clue the Navy gave such low level care.
Nurse, we should get all nurses to bombard the Navy with email about using unlicensed personnel in this situation.

One of the pics posted to Snapchat shows Allyson Thompson, a corpsman at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, flipping the bird to a baby who’s wrapped in a blanket, along with the caption, “How I currently feel about these mini Satans,” according to Action News Jacksonville.

How are they allowed nails like that and giving direct patient care??? Huge infection risk right there to babies that don't get have a strong immune system.

The fireable part of this is the horrible glued on nails they are wearing. These go on with porous glue and have all manner of curious and wonderful fecal/urinary bacteria plus strept, staph, fungi. Likely to transmit many serious infections in the newborn nursey. Short nails only, and certainly not glue on port-o-lets for the baby handlers.

once again... idiots + social media = public dumbassery

They should be fired and prevented from being in the medical industry.

It's funny how none of you can comprehend the military health care system. When I had my wisdom teeth removed the doc gave me a local anesthetic and I could still feel it. Every so often he would just give me another injection and kept on going.
The FMF guys are good at what they do (combat medics) and some of the doctors are decent... but for the most part all of the junior corpsmen working at hospitals or on ships are fricking morons. You're talking about 18 year olds who had like 2 months of training before they're sent to a duty station. They're expected to learn everything on-the-job.

They aren't in the medical industry... they're enlisted sailors in the US Navy.
