It's a private entity, so I don't care unless the state is giving away the house to attract them here. My initial (mis)understanding was that the state of LA was building a third state medical school campus.
LA is ranked in the mid-20s in US state population. Per wwikipedia, there are 141 accredited institutions granting MDs in the US. There are 34 accredited schools awarding DOs. Of those 175, three are in LA. The new school would be the fourth (assuming it's properly accredited). Med schools will soon be one of the very few "good" things LA will be above average in.
