What’s even worse is when a dumbass in the right lane pulls in front of the cars in the left going faster than them because of a car on the shoulder.

That’s more fricking dangerous than staying in the right lane.

In Louisiana, R.S. 32:125 states:

§125. Procedure on approach of an authorized emergency vehicle; passing a parked emergency vehicle
A. Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency vehicle making use of audible or visual signals, or of a police vehicle properly and lawfully making use of an audible signal only, the driver of every other vehicle shall yield the right-of-way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection, and shall stop and remain in such position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.

/thread

I am betting the OP has started a thread or two complaining about people not obeying the law.

Ok, genius in Mississippi: Go ahead and come to a complete stop in the Mobile tunnel right lane or on the I-10 bridge over Mobile bay at night when there's an ambulance in the left lane with unobstructed road ahead. You will feel great knowing you're in full compliance with the law as an 18 wheeler slams into the back of your prius.

Slow down for emergency vehicles.
Stop for school busses.
Use your turn signal.
If it's rush hour, leave enough fricking space between your car and the next for someone to merge. I AM SO frickING TIRED OF SLINKY TRAFFIC. WHY DOES NO ONE REALIZE THAT THERE WILL BE NO CONGESTION PROBLEMS WITH APPROPRIATE SPACING

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE. WHEN ON AN ON-RAMP, MERGE AT THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC YOU DUMB ASSHOLES. IF EVERYONE FOLLOWS THE RULES THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEMS

YES I AM ANGRY

1) I don't live in Mississippi anymore
2) The law is for Louisiana, so I don't think it applies to any roadway in Mobile.
3) I have 600 hp waiting under my right foot and I pay attention. I'm not getting rear ended by anything.

Well we can all come up with highly specific instances which are an exception to any rule.

The point of stopping if you're going in the opposite direction is to allow the emergency vehicle clearance to turn left without worrying about oncoming traffic... so naturally any divided highway where they can't turn left is going to be an exception.

Doesn’t make sense to stop, especially on a bridge, interstate, or 4 lane highway.
