Where is the best place to sell sterling silver set? Nobody wants grandmas silver set and I heard it can be sold by weight.

ChatGPT:
Consider reaching out to local jewelers, antique shops, or even online platforms like eBay or specialized silverware selling websites. Selling by weight is an option, but it's worth exploring different avenues to find the best deal.

Generally it's silver overlay on brass or copper unless you have a really vintage and exceptional set. Do some homework first.

This was grandmas set. Pretty old. Vintage. We will be going to a jewelry store tomorrow.

95+% are silver plate. They've been silver plating for hundreds of years.
Look on the backside of a piece... google the brand/style or whatever is on the back.

Hobby Lobby. They buy gold as well, you just have to go there and tell them what you are there to sell and they will call the guy who buys it up and he will take you to his office.

Why do none of your relatives want the silver service?? Families that have one usually fight over it.

Something around $250/ lb is the going rate.
