I don't want to be in a situation where I have to shoot someone, but nearly a year of paid leave sounds awesome

Obviously. But our officers need to be held to a higher standard. IM NOT TALKING ABOUT ALTON. But the one in Dallas this past week, Rice in Cleveland, and the one in SC were bad

Of course they should. Just like anyone in a position of authority should be held to a higher standard.

wish I was more confident in my white privilege. I mouthed off to a cop once, but he was being a dick. I just told him if you are giving me a ticket I appreciate if you did. If not I would like to go.

I was following a cop behind a cane tractor. Cop passed him in a curve. No passing zone. So I went right with him. Not another car in sight.

He pulls me over and asks why I passed in a no passing zone. I said "Following your example sir"

He says "Alright. Get out of here"

Maybe I was raised different, but my father always told me to say yes sir and no sir to a cop. I've never had them come even close to a physical altercation, and most are level headed when you show them respect. Do on to others as you wish them to do unto you.

I think it all comes down to attitude. Doesn't matter if you are white, black, or brown. If you have a good attitude (regardless if you are getting a ticket or going to jail), you are likely going to be treated better and have a better chance to get out of it.

When you have this pissed off, frick the police, you're a racist pig attitude, you are going to be treated like shite. I've seen it happen to people of all races on both sides.

99% of the time, the power is in the hands of the person in question.

I've had numerous encounters with officers who, in my opinion, think they're above the law. Legit apology for sounding brash. I still believe they need more training in the legal aspect of the job

You need to make better life choices. I've "encountered" the police twice in my 40+ years.

So have I. All idiots that could have avoided a negative outcome by sucking the cops dick like they expect you to.

Me, personally, I suck that dick to feed their ego and get what I want if I need to.

Tax money my friend, tax money.

You get what you pay for.

It will cost many more $s to train and pay people with average or above average I.Q.

That happenin in any of our lifetimes. It appears to be getting worse ATM.

This. I have been pulled over and even arrested (dwi). During the stop they searched my vehicle because I told them they could. I even told them about one of my AR-15s in my truck and they questioned me about it but I told them exactly where it was, it wasn't loaded, etc. Only time I gave a little attitude (knew I was already going to jail) is when he asked why I had it in my truck and I simply said "Because I can". He stopped asking at that point but they didn't even cuff me because I complied and didn't do anything crazy.
