Will these ever see an uptick? Or is this oddly placed area done for?

The state streets would have to be bulldozed. It sucks because the location would be awesome between LSU and downtown.

It is inevitable. In 20 years the property between LSU and downtown will value in comparison with the Heights in Houston.

Yeah right. It was in the same exact absolute disrepair as it was when I started college in 2005

Baton Rouge is not houston.

I used to think it was inevitable... but now I'm not so sure.

According to the Metro Council brain trust of Chauna Banks, Erika Green, Lamont Cole, and Donna Collins-Lewis, gentrification is equal to racism.

So much this. Imagine having a fun, activity filled area to go from downtown all the way to campus. It'd instantly be one of the most popular spots in town and draw in SMBs, out of towners, give students more to do, etc. Ah what could be but likely never will

I always tell anyone visiting town that if it's named after a state or a president.. don't go down it. Particularly after dark.

I wish it would happen, LSU would become a much better school if it did. The amount of night life and cool areas you could have between downtown and LSU would be awesome.

Would only the cool kids be allowed or would it get f'd up like malls, theaters, the French Quarter, etc., with annoying people?

Its already started around the North Gates and that new LSU Nicholson Gateway Development. If you dont think developers are going to keep scooping up that land moving towards downtown, you are crazy.

Only cool kids. We should start an OT baller real estate development company. If we put all our money we could buy all the land in between LSU and downtown. In fact I'll even donate $20 that should buy at least 1 of the trap houses.

The problem with the slum lords who own all the crappy rental properties around LSU, is they are paid for and they stay rented so they refuse to sell. Imagine what a nicer place LSU would be if the Burbank area near Walk ons and Tiger Land werent inendated with slums.

like a two mile long strip mall? You make it sound like the area is a few blocks. What could you possibly "fill" that corridor with

In the early 1980’s, there were several popular bars down Highland - the Bengal, Shanahan’s, Kilpatrick’s, and Cotton Club. Part of the fun was seeing what was stolen from your car if you couldn’t park close to the bar.
