States are wasting money, but nowhere near trillions.

Yeah definitely 10s of billions. Biden set aside 42.5 billion for it and that’s just one program.

Starlink will change the world. It might turn things around in Africa.

Is it gonna bring more navigable rivers and deep water sea ports?

I pay 59.99 for fiber. 1000/1000.

Starlink needs to offer a better plan before i bat an eye.

If you have fiber, you have no need for Starlink. Starlink is a game changer for a lot of people that previously had no option for high speed internet.

States spending trillions for rural broadband are wasting money.

Yep. They just totally jacked up our mountain country road bringing it up here. I know they violated the easement. And they set up ugly as shite gray boxes every 50 yards or so. I’m not changing from starlink regardless of price. F em.

we get around 300 Mbps in our WiFi

… which is very fast for Wi-Fi, for those that don’t know

Hate to be that guy, but dont want people to have the wrong info.

Maybe a Wi-Fi 5 based router, 300Mbps is pretty good

Starting around 2020 and the introduction of Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ax), most consumer routers can easily get close to the 600mbit throughput range, closer to 1 Gig.

Wi-Fi 6 was already replaced with the faster Wi-Fi 6E, and now Wi-Fi 7 which adds the 6Ghz band.

Wi-Fi 7 real world usage can get 4 Gbps throughput over Wi-Fi

Be careful of the weather resilient claim. It's like Direct TV. Heavy thunderstorms and weather clouds definitely causes problems.

I have Starlink and it hasn't gone out in a heavy storm in over a year. It really is amazing. It's fast enough to run 4 TV streams and my kid playing NCAA on Xbox and not bitch about lagging or ping.

Thanks for the post. I just switched to Residential Lite which will save $40/month and should be plenty for my needs. The Residential 100 MBPS plan didn't show as an option.
