I used to live right next to the CDC. Our power never went out.

The downside was that there was probably a nuclear weapon aimed at us in case the zombie apocalypse virus ever got out of the lab.

You live somewhere the powers goes out a lot and stays out long periods, yes. Are you in your forever home, 100% sure about that, then yes.

You live somewhere like Central MS, no.

Somebody got in a wreck near my house and hit a power pole.

No power for going on 10 hours now and the genny is humming along.

I promise it's worth every penny.

Ran for 7 days straight after Ida.

Yes! I didn't think I would need/want but it sure is nice to not have to worry about nothing when the power goes out. Lately my power has gone out too much even on nice weather days. My set up is a Kohler with propane because of my rural location too.

How much did the generator cost?

Worth that much for to not go a half day without air conditioning?

Not being a smartass, thats the question OP needs to answer. Is it work 10-20k to you for a machine you'll use for what will likely average out to 10 or less hours a year?

First off....do you live in Grand Isle, Shreveport, or Santa Fe? Pretty important here

And second, are you asking about whole home or just to keep the fridge running and the lights on?

It's worth it, for sure! Only problem that comes up, is when lights go out due to hurricane and it appears it'll be out for a number of days. Suddenly, your home becomes the Holiday Express for friends and cousins. Love 'em all, but it gets hectic 24-7.
