But why should you be in control of this money?
What's your plan to use it?
Are you kidding me?
Let me see, I can pay two cents on every dollar and send it to Mayor Broome to spend, or I can keep it close to home, elect a mayor more aligned with my politics. A mayor who thinks first of SG and not NBR, and who could care less about Gravey, who could care less about paying for studies on diversity and who would send money in our city.
The plan is to use it to run SG not BR, to use it for local street maintenance, local drainage issues, local permitting, and to supplement our sheriff protection.

City of BR has a bloated Government.
Look at the senior staff.
LINK
Remember the present mayor wants a city manager to do her job.
Meanwhile they have how many people on her senior staff.
- chief administration officer who ran for mayor and lost. No prior public service experience
- assistant chief admin (3 positions)
-chief communications officer
- chief service officer
-director, mayors healthy city initiative LGTBQ Liaison ( we really need one of these)
-federal state grants coordinator
(We need someone to screw up and lose grants)
-community centers
6 community centers
( let’s see how much these cost to operate)
-constables office across the street from the headquarters. We got to keep them in dare vehicles when that could be contracted to the sheriffs office. If EBRP metro council trying to get rid of duplication of services this would be a dept you could contract out to the sheriff.
That just some of the City of BR Waste.
Seems like BR is really responsible in blowing through money while basic services are lacking.

We need one of them.
We also need community centers for everyone with one person on staff.
That seems like responsible government when Brec duplicates this by having gymns inside the city with daytime staff.
City of BR idea of responsibility.
We need constable all with new dodge chargers that say Dare and an office across the street from a main office like they have downtown.
Or
Responsible.
We can contract this out with the sheriffs office which does this already and save money.
If we do the responsible thing we would not have cool Dare dodge chargers driving around town.

Which drainage will be under SG's purview?
What streets and how many streets will be under the control of SG?
Obviously y'all know that. Otherwise, how did that big time accountant firm know what your infrastructure budget would be?
And your answer to getting rid of the status quo is to keep all the same services?

Nothing to do with local tax money.

They keep screaming about the "status quo" and how bad it is, but won't say how they'd change or do things better.
Soooooo........... have you figured out what magildachunks plan is to stop the exodus of the middle class to the surrounding parishes?
I’ve asked you this multiple times and you’ve always ran away never to answer.

almost as if they have no idea what they'll do and will worry about it once they get control of the money.
I mean, they’ve laid out their model and plans plenty of times.

Nothing wrong with the crime rate or education system? Really? Nothing at all?

don't like I'd rather help making it better than running away from it because I happen to live on the right side of town
Soooo keeping the status quo of the middle class fleeing the parish, which results in less tax dollars. Which results in more problems....
Or try to fix the problems and try to stem the exodus And keep the tax dollars in the parish
Truly a “mindbreaking” decision I tell ya.

I never understood why we have BREC parks and community centers run by the city or why Kips had to build city parks Downtown with ornamental stage when we had BREC building parks too.
The CP operating budget is approaching a Billion dollars a year.
It's bloated, and full of bureaucrats.

Where are we meeting to get our St. George OG's for Life tattoos?

Are you serious?
You are just a troll. You can't be taken seriously.
You don't know how much tax we pay to the parish, you don't know what city services entail, and you act as if Broome's brigade of bureaucrats is doing a great job of providing us with services,
You have nothing to do really.

I would also like to know what DPW doing about drainage and cleaning out main bayous along with neighborhood ditches, ditches along parish roads which will still be the parishes responsibility, and main bayous.
Right now dpw has a shotgun approach.
If you complain they will clean your ditch while the ones around you are still clogged in areas with ditches.
They have not announced any plan to hit neighborhood by neighborhood with ditches and clean them all out so they all work.
Seems like EBRPDPW has no plan almost 2 years after a major flood. This shows the government is not working for us.
Richard’s Disposal provides our garbage service in this area. They are a subcontractor to Republic Services who is the contractor and their service is very poor.
DPW was too lazy to bid out the newest 10 yr contract in March of 2018. A dept worker said Republic Services does a good job right after apologizing for the lack of service in my area. That shows they are out of touch with the citizens in this area.
Second.
If there is enough money to for a contractor to pay a subcontractor, Richard’s Disposal who is presently doing the job DPW did not do a good job finding the best value for us.
I bet we will come out with cheaper rates if we put our garbage service out to bid.
Biggest advantage to becoming a city is we will see our tax dollars stay in this area.

We also will drive our Dare constable cars which the city of BR seems to handout like candy over to his house to get tattoos.

And no tax dollars went from EBR Parish tax payers to buy the cars?
It's all free right? I bet the Feds fly mechanics in to fix the cars too. J bet the Feds even give our people gas cards.
You have to do govt. work.
Posted on 7/11/18 at 8:35 pm to magildachunks
When the car says city of BR on the license plate that means we pay for the gas, insurance, and maintenance.
Since we are paying for it, we should get to use them to drive around in.
I am sure they will not need them for anything important like going after people with warrants issued by the city courts.
We also need to have the foreign dictator military style dress uniform with ribbons that the constable has to waste even more tax dollars.

Because we're paying it and every year it gets reappropriated out of our region to help balance the EBR checkbook. For once in your life be honest: we tried it the ISD way. We were told to take a hike and come back when we're a city. That's where we are. You know it. We know it. Stop forgetting it.
Why are you against it? Don't like people benefiting from their own tax dollars? Can't stand the thought of better schools down the road from you?
