Like a lot of other kids back in the day, I had my first birthday party on a St. Charles ave. street car. It is truly sad what the city turned in to.

Went to DLS with that guy. A gentle giant. We used to call him Lurch,and he handled it well. I hope he gets a huge settlement from that lawless shiatehole/RTA.

You're right about that. I was thinking about it from a regulatory/legal standpoint. But again, you're correct that it all starts at home.
Unfortunately, widespread change in violent crime culture won't happen in that sphere unless and until the majority of private citizens step up and do their part in raising their kids. But we all know that's not likely to happen, at least on a large scale.
So we're left with putting our safety from violent crime into the hands of the police and district attorney's office. But without a credible threat of serious jail time (either pending trial or after sentencing), there is no legitimate deterrent that prevents violent offenders from continuing to terrorize law abiding citizens.

From my experiences of riding the streetcar, the least surprising thing in this story is the streetcar driver not even reacting. Not that there aren't some nice/good ones, but there are quite the number of lazy, unfriendly, miserable, worthless motherfrickers that drive those streetcars.

We are at the point where law abiding citizens need to arm themselves and start standing up to the street thugs. Yes there will be casualties and tragic incidents. But I don’t see any other way to deal with this. Unfortunately, our citizens have become too weak and soft I’m afraid.
