Shot a guy in the back of the head with a shotgun and rubber pellets for running.

Seems a little much for just a guy running.

I read the story. I would counter, he had a warrant, he and his family knew he had a warrant and the cops were looking for him, and he ran. If you have a man wanted for armed robbery take off, he may deserve a non life threatening impact to stop him from running.
To not counter, he probably shouldn't have blasted that dude with plastic shotgun load. It's a bad way to interact with the public.

How about not being a POS criminal? How about not being wanted for gambling in public, a previous resisting arrest by flight charge and wanted for a connection with a recent armed robbery?

It's unfortunate (for society) that the bullet(s) in the shotgun weren't lead.

The, I dinddunuffin, I wouldn't of been able to shoot back because I had to hold my pants when I ran away, is OT classic.

The Supreme Court has said that deadly force may only be used on a fleeing suspect if there is a high risk if the suspect escapes. Pretty black and white.

I would counter:

1) he was not "wanted" only was suspected and the family had agreed to bring him to the station for questioning.

2) after questioning him it was found he was not involved in the robbery.

3) and the shooting someone in the back of the head as they were running away when you didn't see a weapon but you claim you felt in danger of your life sounds a little suspect.

Risk of what? Him gambling in public which was the only thing he was guilty of.

crap, needed to pull a Sundance Kid (AKA Robert Redford) hit the ground - do a roll and clip him in the back of the ankle with a one handed shot - they do it all the time in the movies and on TV - also, a lot of the folks on the OB does this shite all the time - jump over and read some of their posts.

Should have shot him based on a warrant for abusing the English language with his name.

This story just comes off weird to me.

Like the chief should be thanked for using non-lethal rounds instead of flat out killing him.

To me, I think the kid has a good civil case.
