I had the oxygen masks drop on us once.

It wasn't even that bad of turbulence, we hit one bad pocket of air or something and had a sudden drop and the masks malfunctioned.

It literally lasted 3 seconds and was smooth immediately after, but the masks dropping made people on the plane FREAK OUT. Heard prayers and Hail Mary’s.

I looked at the flight attendants and they were calm as could be so I knew we were ok. Pilot had to land early because of this and I had to take a rental car voucher from Birmingham, which sucked arse.

ETA:

Southwest from MSY to BNA.

It isn't his fault the engines were overheating and shutting down.

These threads pop-up close to monthly. I'm surprised there are still people who haven't had the Spirit nightmare yet or know someone who's had it.

I wouldn't fly them again if they legit gave me a free ticket. It's like getting on a cattle car filled with the trashiest group of people in any one airport.

I wanted to bathe in bleach after I got off that flight, and that's before we even get to them charging for everything outside of toilet paper.

I just flew to Lima, Peru with Spirit. I think it's their longest flight. I didn't think it was that bad considering the ridiculously cheap price.

Would ride again.

You should have left a floater in their toilet! I do that often to signal my displeasure to any business owner, when necessary. A distinguished turban clad owner of a convenience store was a bit rude to a customer in front of me so, after buying my 25 cent juicy fruit pack of gum, I headed to the shitter and left as much as I could push out. it surprised me how much I could plop in the bowl while in a vengeful mood. I left the slop to fester as I chuckled on the way out.....

I don't know man, it just felt like we would lurch forward a little, then get pressed against our seats. You could hear the engines whine and then you wouldn't hear them.

The pilot definitely DNGAF

You would be surprised how bad turbulence can get and have no negative effect on the integrity of the plane's structure.

I really wish that would make me feel better

Let's just say I'm not looking forward to the ride back.

I'm sure there are videos on YouTube that would make your flight feel smoother than Cadillac

I'd care about Emirates for domestic flights when they offer domestic flights.

Has turbulence ever actually brought down a commercial jet in the US before?

I've been on flights where people were injured when the turbulence knocked them off balance and everyone started praying. I've even been hit by flying travel bags once when the overhead bins popped open between SFO and JFK.

Landing in bad weather is way scarier IMO.
