I can't remember if the nature of the collapse was ever mentioned, but the upshot is that the supplies in the city would run out pretty quickly

The time line moves swiftly...

In 4 hours, the water in the pipes is gone...no water is being pumped.

In 8 hours (first night), grocery stores are raided for all pertinent food

In 48 hours, normal people will gang together to protect families and begin trading and raiding. Pharmacies become primary targets.

In 72 hours, people begin killing for water.

In 5 days, people begin killing for food. The largest organized well trained groups will begin taking over...real organization/hard decisions (rationing) begin taking place.

In 2 weeks, those outside organized groups will be vagrants scrambling for crumbs, and an all out bloodbath will occur daily in unorganized neighborhoods.
If the government survived...army trucks will begin to arrive with some necessities...

In 4 months, power will begin to be restored, tens of thousands are dead...

That's right crisis action plans guess 4-6 months without power to certain urban areas...

Good Luck!

You do know that only 3% of the world is covered by cities, yes no?

There is way more than enough open space in this country for people to spread out. If you're in certain areas you may have to head a bit further to find it, but there's room.

Just make sure to guard that 1970s chevy with your life or it'll be real hard to get there.

You do know there's really not enough hunting land in this country to support millions of people coming out of the cities, don't you?

The choice for refugees from the cities will be to hunt or farm, or both, things with which many of them have no experience. Many will starve within a few months without the government to save them.

Doesn't need to be hunting land. If it's got birds, squirrels, shite...animals of any kind, it's "hunting land". There are animals all over the place in this country and Canada.

Doesn't mean that everyone will be able to get them, but there's plenty of space out there.

Probably get picked up by the gov and moved to a power plant to start trying to see what was damaged and what we could do to try to restore what we could.

Sadly, this is vital...start with cash, though...it will be worthless, but the cashier won't know that yet

Anything with an electric current not hardened will be affected within a few hundred miles...
This causes shorts...anything hardened/covered in thick metal is usually preserved

You have to reroute power lines and replace wires for most everything

A lot of debate over how much damage would actually happen, but yeah, my arse would be working my arse off if this actually happened. Guards would likely probably be keeping people out as much as they would be keeping us in.

It would interesting as hell though, because we could bypass a lot of safety shite to get the generator spinning again.

I doubt we would use the current powerline system as is anyway. We would be going for direct serving major locations first.

Well, there are a lot of unsaid issues here. First of all I would assume the attack is not known of beforehand and we are caught off-guard. That being said if its daytime and most of us are at work, then we have a long walk home. Since your vehicle won't work, and you are walking home, you dont have the time, wherewithall to get any supplies you dont already have at home. Then, when you get home (say 2 hours), you will be lucky to have it un-pilfered.

Millenials would have to draw their selfies and physically bring people over to look at them.
