I say screw pennies and nickels. The dime becomes the lowest denomination. Quarters can get fricked too. We'd save millions by not stamping pennies and nickels. Not to mention we'd make the currency system that much more simpler.

Basically it would look like this:
Dimes
New 50 cent peice
Dollar
$5 bill
$10 bill
Etc

Sounds like some kind of shite the government would do, keeping the difference. Something that cost me ¢.06 now cost ¢.10

There would be no "difference." We'd be moving from $0.01 based system to a $0.10 based system. Everything would be converted accordingly

The Alex Jones people really go out their way to be known.

Yeah we already tried this years ago with distance. No one here liked it.
Start a penny jar like most others do and give it to charity once a year.

I do like how the euro had 1 and 2 dollar coins.

Penny should go.

And the tax is included in the price.

The OP is a contender for dumb thread of the year.

US currency is already based on a "metric" system. 1/100 of a dollar is a centidollar (ever hear of one cent? Look on the back of a penny) and 1/10 off a dollar is a decidollar (or a dime). So we also have a nickel and a quarter, big deal.

If we got rid of pennies and nickels they would just round up the cost of everything.

You can do this if you want already. Just round up to the nearest dime and tell the cashier to keep the change.
