Disc golf cheaper, more fun, less a-holes(or at least a different type) and beer/weed while playing.

This is why when you meet someone who consistently shoots in the low 80s or especially high 70s, they do not have ANY other hobbies.

I shoot in the low 80'2 high 70's. I hunt and fish religiously, bowl, play basketball, regular poker games, etc. Do you even play golf or are you talking out of your arse?

I guess not everyone.

Most of the private clubs in my area are full and getting tee times at many of the nicer courses are pretty booked up.

I have a regular game on Saturdays. I play in it when not fishing or hunting, so at least 2 times a month. During the summer (I'm a teacher), I play a few times a week.

But I don't think we'll ever have an issue attracting people to participate in professional golf.

Probably not. But I can guarantee you they'd still appreciate the interest of the riff-raff if increased their earnings by a multiple of 4 or 5.

If I were to re-word the "no other hobbies" post, I would probably instead say its tough to be good at golf if you dont play regularly. I have no idea about whether or not having other hobbies effects that or not. I know personally i've had moments where I havent played for months and came out randomly with a great swing and played well, but most of the time its the opposite of that.

Too much competition for white folks' money and leisure time.

Not replacing aging white golfers with minority young golfers fast enough.

It's a hot, sweaty, expensive waste of time.

This.

I like golf, but I'm also married with a 3 year old and a career. It's quite literally impossible for me to squeak in a round.

I do, however, think that the low number of younger people playing is a bit of an overstatement. Golf has always struck me as something that's fairly easy to pick up if you want to get into it (expense aside - I'm talking ability and availability), and it's fairly addictive when you do pick it up and have the time (i.e. retirement).

We can only hope. It's a huge waste of land and water.

A lot of environmentalist types seem to think that it's incredibly damaging with the fertilizers and such.

it just takes too long b/c idiots think they're PGA players and are attempting to read greens like it's sunday at augusta and most of them have no idea what they're even looking at..

i love golf but hate golfers..

there's no reason for a round to take more than 3 hours.. if your 4some is averaging more than 10 mins a hole, you need to be beaten with a tire iron*..

*not directed at the poster i'm replying to, obviously..

It's just getting back to normal and that's fine, the trash that came out when Tiger was popular made it not worth playing on the weekends
