Why?

Paw paw was like 85 when they started asking him to drill on his land. He was pretty comfortable financially so he told them to piss off

Up Blackwater is Austin Chalk but fairly near Tuscaloosa shale as well. They've known it was there for a long time but used to be too deep to worry with so I'm told

I don’t own an acre of land but if I had the choice, that’s what I would want. I believe in this world it’s the only way to be your on master and standing on your on 2 feet.

And what would you do with that land?

As usual, the local blowhards that rub elbows with all these billionaires, come to post “insider” knowledge of said billionaires bank accounts.

Paw paw drove an 81 Sierra in 2015 and wore Liberty overalls until he died at 98. He didn't give much of a shite about money or material possessions but was worth over a million dollars

According to this place, he was in poverty if that’s all he had in 2015.

It was definitely singular not plural. Grew up in the great depression and saved 60 cents of every dollar he made. Ended up as the superintendent of one of the larger plants around here
Bought 100+ acres that ended up being in a decent, desirable suburb. He died with no credit score.

I’ve rented land from land owners growing corn, soybeans and rice for years. I know a little about the value of it. Just because I don’t own land doesn’t mean I’m not directly tied to it.

Baw fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Very awesome man. He practically raised me. I grew up in the country a few miles down from him. Salt of the earth types
