You’re missing my point, my rich and your rich is different. It depends on what you value more, I value land more then pieces of fiat currency.
Oh, in that case I am the richest person in the world. I have a healthy child and a roof over my head.
Tell your friends.

I’m not arguing whether it can be taken, anything can be taken depending on circumstances. We are speaking of value, I value land more than currency of any kind.

I’m speaking in terms of capital

Do you know what that means?

My terms of rich and yours are different.
Don't disagree with me.

Cash is king
Money makes the world go around.
Not land
Although a I agree with you, owning large acres of property is the american dream and I would love to own a couple hundred of my own one day, but to think some guy that has a few 10k acres in Franklin Parish in some family trust or land Corporation even falls in the top 20 of wealthiest people in Louisiana is just foolish

your lands value is directly tied to the currency you hate
land being productive is giving you usd, thats it.

I'm just giving you shite. My family owns tons of property in Central/Pride. Of course it's generally a decent investment but it's certainly not the best one anymore unless you just happen to hit a real estate bubble or a mineral jackpot.

We’re speaking strictly in economic terms here, we aren’t at an aa meeting.

I thought Brown-Forman was the largest American owned. Either way, both have principal offices in Louisville and make a shite ton of alcohol.

How much currency does that land produce each year for your friend?

Unless your land is making money in some fashion, you just get eaten alive in property taxes over a long period of time. You can own thousands of acres and it doesnt mean shite if all you do is pay taxes on it

My dad has held on to his father's land in Pride because it's in the Austin Chalk. Paw paw had offers to drill on it for years and turned them all down

Minerals are just an extra bonus to the land but they can be exhausted. The real value in land is the top soil ( productive land).

yeah, i work for one of their competitors. really helps when you have lots of big T&M jobs and gravy maintenance contracts like they do. on most lump sum jobs, 10% profit is about the norm. overhead is massive though

I don’t own an acre of land but if I had the choice, that’s what I would want. I believe in this world it’s the only way to be your on master and standing on your on 2 feet. I’m not talking about any kind of financing because your just a slave again. In an ideal situation, I think that’s what makes a human human. We’ve been tied to it for millions of years.

Why?

the Austin Chalk
I haven't heard of much of anything in oil and gas, so this doesn't mean much, but I've never heard of that.
I know there was an oil well off of Greenwell Springs road (near the Thruway) 20-30 years ago, but I never heard that it produced very much. Is that related to the Austin Chalk?
