From the link you posted
quote:
An employer of a tipped employee is only required to pay $2.13 an hour in direct wages if that amount plus the tips received equals at least the federal minimum wage, the employee retains all tips and the employee customarily and regularly receives more than $30 a month in tips. If an employee's tips combined with the employer's direct wages of at least $2.13 an hour do not equal the federal minimum hourly wage, the employer must make up the difference.
So what are you arguing here? When I worked at a restaurant, I got paid $2 something from the employer. No one thinks that it isn't going to equal minimum wage

Will you pay $30 for a meal for yourself at chilli's?
Because that's all your asking us. If we would shift the responsibility of the wage to the restaurant directly, and not the patron.
Yes, the restaurant MUST ensure they make at least minimum wage, but 90% of the time(made up stat - probably higher) the restaurant is only responsible for the $2.13/hr
It's not a very educated thought process to think that the restaurant will just cut the servers a check for minimum wage and the food will still cost the same.

Again, if the $2.13 plus their tips does not equal minimum wage or above they are required by law to then be paid minimum wage.
I doubt any server has ever claimed this

I'm a waiter.
I'm not gonna pretend I make minimum wage.
But I def make 2.13 an hour from my employer. My checks are normally $0 after taxes. Never more than $50.

Restaurant workers make $2.35 an hour right now. Jackass.
