Aren't you suppose to have an ignition interlock device installed and have proof before the LA DMV will issue you a license? How did you manage that?

If you get arrested for a DUI on say Tuesday night and get out early Wednesday morning you can make it to the DMV to get a duplicate license before your arrest hits the system.

You then have roughly 15 days to send in the paperwork for an administrative hearing about your license. Any decent lawyer can win that and get your license back but if you don't schedule the hearing it's automatically suspended and you have to get an interlock to drive.

Length of interlock in your car depends on what offense DUI it is. First offense might only be 3 months but the 2nd could be 2 years

currently doing all of this I've completed all of the MADD/driving classes, service work, and AA meetings. So the process is almost compete of having all that stuff disappear.

That sounds like you did a pre-trial diversion program. That's not the same as having it expunged.

If you get stopped while drinking again you will be charged with a 2nd offense DUI

No. Also, get one of those attorneys that hang out at the courthouse all day. Pay him a couple hundred dollars max, and avoid going to court, attorney will get it down to a nothing offense or thrown out, avoid getting points on license, and every other inconvenience of going to traffic court.

not being a dick here, just offering advice, slow the frick down for starters, talk about putting it on a pedestal, you risked jail to meet up with some twat? do the time/distance math on speeding anywhere and weigh the few seconds/minutes saved against the consequences, think things through before making decisions

It's ironic that in your situation, you would call someone else a dumbarse.

So, you couldn't just call the girl and explain that you were on your way and drive the speed limit to avoid getting caught for driving with a suspended license? By driving, you were already putting your deal at risk, so you decided to take on a 2nd risk? Do you still drink and drive also and, if so, do you speed while doing so?

He's driving with a suspended licenses so it's safe to assume that he still drinks and drives

so about a month or so ago I got a speeding ticket on river road between lauberge and Brightside drive, I was doing 75 in a 55. But the catch is that my lisence is supended due to a DUI that I got back in November; knowing my lisence would be suspended when I got released I went immediately to the express DMV and got a new one. So when I got pulled over the cop just wrote me my ticket and went about his day. What I'm wondering is when it comes time for me to go downtown on my court date to pay for my ticket will the court/ judge be able to have me arrested on the spot if they can see that my lisence is suspended? thanks.

So why didn't you UBER in the first place, knowing if you get stopped you're going to jail? No strange is worth all the hassle, and you probably didn't get laid either.

You do realize if a cop gets behind you and runs your plates he can see on his onboard computer that your license is suspended?

How did the cop not know your license was suspended? Doesn't that pull up when they run your license number?

It's possible the cop didn't run his license. He probably just got the license number and wrote it on the ticket without calling it in.

OP, your best bet is to just mail the payment for the ticket. They will suspend your license for another year for driving under suspension but at least you didn't go to jail. Slow the frick down!

As I understood, you got the DUI and went to get a replacement/duplicate license as soon as you were released after being arrested. Is that not right?
