The comms antenna on the main tower was damaged. Pretty sure thats a valid reason to abort a catch

The NSF crew said it's taken damage in pretty much all other flights too

Interesting. I dont recall this at all . Were hitting reentry early...

I wonder if secretly they just want to max this v1 out because V2 is literally the next flight.

Wow. The on board cameras were amazing this time, and combined with the droneship camera they had in the ocean it's just hard to believe.

Looks like it's unexpectedly recoverable too, which just increases the data they can collect from it.

That ship did better than last 2 and was beat to hell. Steeper angle of entry might be the norm.

The mission criteria was to catch the thing. After separation it was still a go. Moments later it changed. I'll be shocked if FAA doesn't ground it.

An off-shore soft landing was within the scope of the licenses for IFT 5 and 6. It was actually expected on IFT5. Just like the Starship vehicle soft landed between the buoys with the cameras in the Indian Ocean, the Heavy booster soft landed at the predetermined location in the Gulf. I expect the remains of it to be recovered. The salvage ship used for the previous recoveries of the booster and staging ring, M/V Hos Ridgewind is in Fourchon, LA. If we see it start moving south in a few days, we will know what's up.
