Speaking of space tech, I had an idea, may be feasible. Use satellites or space station kept in orbit facing the sun absorbing solar and storing to return to earth as energy source.
What do the brainiacs think? Too costly, too small ??
You might as well suggest we try to send people to Mars. The idea you have suggested has been around since the dawn of our space program. We are one of many nations actively pursuing this. The concept is called Space Based Solar Power (SBSP). After decades of research, we still may be another decade away.

A few interesting things I think I have figured out. Geosynchronous satellites (Hughes, Dishnet) fly at 22k miles out in space! Starlink will have most of it's satellites at 340 miles. Explains the incredible speed differences that should be expected. Theories show that the speed from London to New York will actually be faster than cable. The difference is that a satellite has to be that high to stay in a fixed position above earth all of the time. Starlink will be an entire earth covering constellation of 12000 satellites. Different satellites will be flying above you all of the time.

FWIW I hope nobody tells the schizophrenics about this.
