Southwest isn't having any more/less incidents, they're just getting reported because people are worried about flying. Cabin decompression is not too uncommon. They happen a few times a week throughout the world. Southwest had one occur in Feb 2018, but since no one cared it wasn't reported. The media appreciates your clicks though.

There was a pothole in the one active runway at Love yesterday shutting everything down for a couple hours.

I know that's not Southwest's fault, adding a shite ton of canceled/delayed flights didn't help a bad month, and now this. Hits keep coming.

Exactly.

Now, this could also be a smear campaign by a competitor. Delta/AA/etc. could have a advertising deals with some media outlets and been "pushing" them to prioritize Southwest stories. You never know.

Is it working? I say no. People are still going to fly Southwest. Yes, they are in the news more at the moment. Shite happens, could be Delta next month, American the next...

yea like they are going to tell everyone "Well we are all about to die"

but i am surprised they didnt come on the speaker saying everything was ok. Hell they should come over the speaker and say everything is ok even if they plane was going down and would kill everyone.

Pretty sure planes from every airline make unexpected landings every day.

I read that they have essentially been doing all their base maintenance in El Salvador to cut costs.

I'd be really, really leery of flying SW.

I'm on an antique AA MD80 headed to DFW. The airplane has enough layers of paint on it alone to bring it out the sky.

Obviously, these people were not paying attention during the safety presentation. Cover the mouth AND nose, dumbasses.

AA MD-80s have no paint, it's polished aluminum.

Plus they're so solid you'll be fine.

Will definitely load up on nerve pills before the flight, though.

Among the five largest carriers, the report says, Southwest outsources 52% of its maintenance; United outsources 51%; Alaska outsources 49%; Delta outsources 43% and American outsources 33%

At the low end, Spirit outsources 24% and Allegiant outsources 28%. Samuelsen said the carriers’ aircraft lease contracts include maintenance, so the maintenance spending is not classified as outsourced.

At the high end, Hawaiian outsources 75% and JetBlue outsources 74%. Hawaiian spokesman Alex da Silva said the carrier does not outsource maintenance to any foreign stations, but it does outsource some widebody maintenance work to mainline U.S. third party stations.
