Good point, but keep in mind a person can also start just about any business that makes sense and do the same or better without the $100,00 anchor.

This is true as well. I have a relative (he is a 3rd cousin. I am not close to him at all. I just know his story). He quit school in the 9th grade (I don't even know if you had to be a certain age back then or what)... Worked, eventually started his own seafood business (in Mississippi).. His sons run it now, but its a multimillion dollar company now.

There are certain careers you have to go to college for (medical doctor, lawyer, teacher, engineers, etc), but just having a degree isn't as valuable.

When I was coming out of HS, late 90s... You couldn't find a job that didn't have "must have college degree" in the description. It didn't matter what type of degree you had, it was pretty much used as a filter. But today, if you are going to school to major in history, philosophy, etc, etc, etc.. And you don't want to be a professor or something then its a complete waste of money and time.

Very true. The cost of the degree was relatively inexpensive, too.

That is starting at $40k. If someone works their way up and ends up making $120k a year then its well worth it... no?

What’s the rate of college grads reaching 150 percent pay increase in their careers? And at what point in their careers? Then there’s raising families. Mortgages, healthcare, child expenses, auto expenses, idle entertainment and then the high costs to patch up the mental damage it causes to keep up. Counseling for some. Drugs or expensive pastimes for others.
