For Nyx, yes.

But tonight they got the Endymion floats detoured to the Superdome which is where they unloaded riders to bus them to the convention center. The route was scheduled to go down a section of Poydras further towards the river. Between the dome and the portion of Poydras that was on the scheduled route, the street is 3 lanes wide each way and no trees overhead. I don’t see why the floats couldn’t continue down Poydras until they were back on route.

Reports are he slipped on beads and fell under. He should have never been close enough to the float for that to even happen

That’s what happened to the woman I made the thread about last week. She luckily had some people pull her out of the way enough that the float pushed her instead of rolling her

Darwin remains undefeated. If you get “hit” by a float, I don’t care the circumstance....

Joe Giarusso was on WWL made point to bring up Endymion paying for added security and barricades. He went on about the police having to be on three different routes. The move UPT is coming.

I don’t agree with it but he fell back on those talking points really quickly.

Reminds me of the guy who was 'hit by the train' leaving work.

I'm the a-hole because in a meeting I asked if it jumped off the tracks and got his truck, then suggested that we should put really loud horns on them.

Those barricades will be great when someone inevitably gets crushed fighting for beads or some NOLA culture opens fire and people stampede one another

I mean.....at least the parade gets to keep going

Just think it’s silly that the Nola news had “float hit, killed person” as the headline.

Like what? How? The thing is 20ft tall, 12ft wide, and moving at 2mph.

Except for

1. the fact that there were police already in the immediate vicinity and still weren’t able to save him. More police wouldn’t have helped.

2. The death on Wednesday happened on the uptown route with no other parades happening elsewhere therefore not stretching out resources.

This is a WEAK argument for moving Endymion. I hope for the sake of some diversity and businesses of mid city they don’t force them to do this simply because the city (servants of the people!) wants to force it so they don’t have to work any harder than they absolutely have to.

We could probably be friends.

You can see a cop in the video standing like 10 feet from where it happened.

Endymion should just pay off Nomtoc to move to the Saturday before so the city loses the 3 route argument

Tell us how the floats would have crossed the streetcar track.

Exactly. The idea they’re stretched thin is a bad excuse to suggest that would have stopped this incident.

I am not saying I agree with it but you could tell he had been discussing those talking points.

Travers Mackel also reported that the city said the REASON they can’t barricade the whole route is that there are three routes running today: UPT, NOMTOC, and Endymion. Which we all know is bullshite, but supports the move UPT

If it’s confirmed that he jumped and slipped on beads that is 100% a freak thing. Yeah he shouldn’t have been up against the float but still. The city can’t regulate freak accidents out of life.

The lady who crossed between at nyx also is like crossing a crosswalk that says don’t walk and getting hit by a car. You can’t regulate stupid decisions out of people.

Was going to type something, but decided not to take the ban tonight. That’s reserved for LSU baseball post season

The cops may not be paying attention to shite during Mardi Gras, but damn they make some good dancing on the streets videos
