Really discussion huh? I posted a link to a website that's been created by members of black lives matter that outlines specific polices and solutions and it went ignored. There was no discussion just lets jump to bashing black people

Most people interpret it #BlackLivesMatterUnlessTakenByOtherBlackLives, which is exactly what their movement has become. If you want to stand by BLM as your slogan, you better come to the defense of ALL black lives and the tragedies they face, not simply the ones taken by white cops.

I'd have no problem if #BlackLivesMatter was plastered across every story regarding the murder of black men and women. My issue is that it only surfaces when there is some perceived (somestimes accurately) racial motivation.

Unfortunately you have to make a spectacle sometimes in this country to get results.

Sad but true.

Should it be this way, no.

right

their slogan should have somehow worked in police brutality, but it was a slogan that started on twitter and it kinda gain traction from there

but I think it is pretty obvious what the "movement" is about, no matter how vague the name might be or whether or not you agree with any of it

the spectacle they're making is for all the wrong reasons. Perceived racist and not really addressing the whole issue about black lives mattering unless it is taken by a white police officer.

It's ludicrous

Agreed. See now that wasn't hard. We can find common ground.

BLM is lecturing the WRONG people. They are wagging their finger at people who already know this. If they want to prove the point that black lives do indeed matter, they should address the problem of black on black homicide, which results in around 9000 dead blacks per year.

Just like I can't abide a pederast priest lecturing me on my morality, I cannot abide a loud-mouthed criminal/racist/dirtbag who has no understanding of Individual Liberty or The Rule Of Law lecturing me on how I need to behave. I will not accept moral instruction from those who have no interest in good citizenship.

Hey I checked it out and even gave you kudos on the link. I think it's providing much needed direction to an otherwise rudderless movement.

So not everybody ignored it, there were other people who commented on it as well.

I don't.

I wish the movement was about police brutality, but that is no longer the case. The movement has erupted into a mantra for any perceived racial slight. Hell, one of the leaders was openly critical of the reporter and cameraman who were murdered. That shite is unacceptable.

fricking tired of it. Especially you bigoted assholes who get with posting this bullshite time and time again

In responding to dissent and debate by calling everyone racist, you've proven that the type of person that is attracted to the BLM movement is both illogical and incapable of self-reflection.

You know what else you need in order to get results?

Clearly defined desired results. Otherwise it's just spectacle.

Not before another race-focused media frenzy about 10 months from now.

...a spectacle vulnerable to being hijacked which this movement has been since before most of us have ever heard about it.

I agree that it is no longer the case, as I said in a previous post, the movement has been hijacked

but at the core, the movement is/was about police brutality/violence

As an African American I wish the organizers focused and the larger issues in the community like incarceration rates, black on black crime and education in our community.

The way black ppl are treated by some in society is awful but if we get our community more educated and reduce the amount of crime in our communities then our perception and treatment will improve.

When I try having conversations with many of my friends, I quickly get shot down anytime I bring up something opposing the BLM movement.

The organizers have actually started to formulate a plan to address this issue. They announced it like a week ago.

And this is why it isn't a social movement but a bowel movement.

It wasn't hijacked. It was founded by radical racists.
