SMH. All the movies you listed were about non-human characters. Freddy Kreuger?Spider-Man? Hulk? Outerspace Star Trek? Sure those were white actors that morphed into a different character, but cmon it's not the same as making the kid in karate kid black, or Annie a black girl with a rich black dad. Those changes were almost done completely to be about race. Like someone else in this thread said, there are plenty of prominent figures in the black community, make a new movie about their story or even just make a new fictitious character with a black actor no issue there.

I agree that movies should be more original. If so that should be the complaint, not that they are remade with black people.
No idea what you're getting at regarding nonhuman characters. Are Annie, the tin man, the lion and Dorothy more human than Capt. Kirk, Spock, and the karate kid? That's the comparison being made. But there are literally hundreds of other remakes. Take your pick.

You know what I just realized. There has not been a good Black Panther movie in years.
He is an African character in the Marvel universe with an interesting backstory and plotlines that tie into the more prominent Marvel characters.
He can have his own movie easily.

What I'm getting at is these particular remakes just seem to be about making the characters black. And if 20 years from now they remake the movie Friday with black people again, I wouldn't have an issue. It's just a remake or current version of the same story - similar to how Star Trek produced a current movie of the old episodes. But yes, my original thought had more to do with the lack of originality of the movies coming out than the race of the characters.
