That's fricking awesome.

It's incredible. Basically the underside of a glacier.

There's some good pics in the article above.

Best time is in winter, you can hike on the frozen lake and it saves a lot of time.

Rog, do you mind if I call you Rog?

How much does it take to live in Alaska? Single guy, mid-20's, kinda bored and wanna have some real experiences. What is the cost of living, quality of life, job market, etc. up there?

Housing is expensive in Juneau, but not bad everywhere else. Somewhere like the Mat-Su valley near Anchorage the cost of living is about like much of the lower 48. Jobs aren't hard to find but you don't have much of a chance of getting one without establishing residency first, unless you have a unique skill.

Very good lifestyle here. Great people, lots of outdoor activities.

Just quit my job, sold the house and went. Best thing I've ever done.

Family. Wife and two daughters. Ages 5 and 7 at the time. We took a couple of weeks to drive through parts of the West and Canada. Awesome family experience.

And I take it since you're still there (I have no clue how long you've been up there) that everybody loves it? Or at least is content up there?

That's great man. The only hangups I would have (and remember, I'm still in my 20's) is duck/deer hunting and the lack of LSU football up there. And by LSU football I mean going to games, tailgating, etc.

I'm going to the Wisconsin game. Went to the game in Seattle.

Most of the games being on television make it bearable.

My best friend is an Alabama fan.

Went to a birthday. Went to dinner. Correctly guessed where the birthday party was and went to go talk to the birthday girl and I was waved off by a girlfriendbecause there was some drama. I knew better to get involved so I kept walking but sent an "are you an ok text." Waiting for the incoming.

In the words of my hunting club before we all head to the woods "Good skill" (instead of good luck)
