I use the eyeball test and very seldom have I seen really fat people not suffer with some breathing, walking, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc., issues. Come on man, being fat will kill you earlier than not being fat.

I have a rock solid source from two local ICUs who said the magic number is 40.
The overwhelming majority of serious cases requiring hospitalization are men and women with BMI >=40.
