When she asked her godson why he hadn't told anyone about the bullying, he replied: "I was embarrassed." She then told him he was not in trouble. "He jumped up and hugged me ... because he actually thought he had done something wrong," she said.

From the previously linked article on the arrests:
They are out on $2500 bond - hope they get their asses beat.

The victim's godmother told The Associated Press the man had to be assured he wasn't to blame for what happened. "He thought he was in trouble," the 51-year-old woman said Monday. "I told him he wasn't in trouble, it wasn't his fault."

The fact the parents of these thugs went to the police complaining of harassment instead of taking their little shite stains out back and beating some manners into them is very telling.

There's something noteworthy about this thread. Can't quite put my finger on it.

From the arrest article:
Man frick those kids.
Even if a grown man saw them beating the mentally challenged kid and kicked their arse, he would be in worse trouble. Society today

A group of teens pressed the boy to take the "Ice Bucket Challenge," a viral campaign to raise money and awareness for ALS. What's supposed to happen in the challenge is that someone dunks a bucket of ice water on the participant, who then "challenges" three people to do the same.
Instead, the kids dumped a bucket of spit, urine, feces and cigarette butts on the boy, according to Cleveland television station WKYC-TV.

Eta: That video is years old. No idea why the media is just picking up on it like it happened yesterday

There's a really good Black Mirror episode about that. You should check it out if you want an awesome "frick yeah!" moment.
watched it, but the irony is that the 'justice givers' and audience in the episode are eerily similar to the culprits in enjoying watching others suffer...seems that many/most people just like to watch others suffer, whether for just or sadistic purposes...humans strange

Yeah it's a really good show. And the moral at the end of each episode "people are shitty".
