You could have gotten a rebuilt transmission with a warranty for about $300 more dollars. Don't ever try and get whatever is already screwed up on a transmission fixed. Either get a rebuilt one or a brand new one.

but it came out of the shop with zero improvement, to the point I have to take it back in, do I get my 2k back? Will they credit it against whatever repair they have to do? (Which I fear might be a full tranny replacement

I am curious what they charged you $2K if not for a full rebuild? If your service was totally labor, they will probably cut you a deal on that because honestly, they don’t have much expense tied to that.

No extended warranty?

Why? Never ceases to amaze me why folks won't protect their vehicle...we pay insurance on everything from our bodies to our cell phones, but when it comes to our $50-$60,000 automobiles, they'll say "I don't need that stuff"....lol oh really?

My company has about 30 company vehicles and used to never buy extended warranties. they were waste of money was their thinking and would roll their eyes every time I bought one in my vehicles. well we had one bad apple with company vehicle that cost a small fortune right after factory warranty expired that changed their minds. Now extended warranties for 10 years 100,000 miles from dealer is included in every vehicle we purchase.
