i brought up the bone graft, then the implant but every question i brought was responded with an eyeroll.

My fiancée (DMD, PhD, MDS) is a specialist in implant dentistry, she kind of frowned when I showed her your post. Said it's not uncommon that she gets patients that come in with their failed implant(s) in a medicine bottle.

I thought about it. I mentioned something about it to the dentist and he ended up doing the implant for free. Not sure if I should have pursued more compensation or not.

It was like another $750 to be put under.

You must have been paying out of pocket and have no insurance. I recently had a tooth extracted by an oral surgeon and the whole thing cost me $350 and that was with him putting me all the way under. I was sitting in the chair while they were prepping and the next thing I knew they were waking me up and saying I did fine

I have insurance though

I like a dentist with a sense of humor.

You got any good Hebrew jokes?

I went back in and the dentist admitted he might have “nicked” the nerve. I said it was probably the moment when I felt like an electric shock went through my jaw. When it wasn’t getting any better, he finally admitted he severed it and I would never have feeling in it for the rest of my life.

Same thing happened to a coworker of mine. He'll have shooting nerve pains the rest of his life.

I had an implant about six years ago. The tooth they extracted was a root canal tooth that broke at the gumline so that part wasn't bad for me. The most annoying part of the entire thing was the stitches after they put the post in. My insurance wouldn't cover it because it was cosmetic but I still opted to be put under. It was about a 3,500 dollar bill so what was another 750? whatever.

So, let this be a lesson to you if you are tempted to get carried away into the 'Insurrectionist' bent on this Board. Pain is very influential; "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all knowledge".

Silver lining, now you are more educated individual; and likely more empathetic. And your tooth (infection sucks!) is secure for the duration of what may be an extended time of severely limited health services and meds.
