I hear this from people I don't recognize or know at Ivar's, and I'm a semi- regular, but they have never once overcharged me in the 10 years I've sporadically visited. I know this because I check everytime
Not saying it's proof dispositive, just that I think peeps gets drunk and order shite regretfully. Or just chalk it up to to employee ineptitude, which certainly happens when you have a revolving door in a few employee positions.
I think you should know what to expect before you walk into their doors.

Been going to Ivar's regularly for over a decade and have never been overcharged.

That reputation/myth whatever you want to call it stopped when new management took over in 2014.
If it's happened since then, it was by accident and you should have asked for itemized receipt to fix it on the spot.
But yea the Ivars from when I started going in 2001 to 2013?? It happened quite a few times. No lies there.

If y’all wanna talk about places that truly do overcharge and just adds stuff on bills it’s Uncle Earl’s. A few of my friends and a lot of other ppl have come out with the same story of bogus bar tabs that they never got their $ back from.

It happened to me a handful of times back in the day when they still used the paper logs for tabs but it's not really something I still associate with the bar now
