I get it every once in a while.
I had an episode hit me earlier this year. I was mortally terrified because I couldn't move but I thought someone had broken into my house. I wanted to grab the gun out of my nightstand but I couldn't move. I thought I was going to be killed.
By the time I came out of the paralysis I realized I was just dreaming up the break-in... so no accidental discharge of firearms.

I have had many episodes of S.P. but this past year, it has been few and far between. My worst year was last year between late Sept. thru Dec. It seems like I was having them every night. It was so intense and vivid I still, to this day, think about what I saw and wonder where in my brain this comes from. I was never scared though and never saw anything "terrifying". Spooky and strange shite but I never terrified. I refuse to watch that documentary though.

Happened once a few years ago. I already knew all about sleep paralysis and as soon as it was done I realized exactly what had happened, and it was still terrifying. I had been going through a period of about a month of getting really horrible sleep, and I was exhausted when it happened. I was disoriented and thought that I was sleeping at my parents old house where I grew up instead of my apartment, and I had the impression that a tall figure was standing at the foot of my bed by the window. I think the drapes gave me the impression of the figure. I tried to yell for help, but I don't know if even I was able to get a hoarse grumble out. Pretty freaky shite, and I would rather not experience it again.

Yeah I've had it a couple times. One time I "woke up" several times in the morning, each time thinking I was actually awake. I would even hop out of my bed and ask my girlfriend if it was real, but I would still be dreaming.

True dat. Every time I had it, aliens were involved. With their probing selves.

this is the trick. Move as much as you can until you come out of it. It's always scary but, it normally lasts less than a minute. Actually even less than that. Seems longer while paralyzed.

I get it a few times per year. Sometimes on my back, sometimes not. But I'm one of those really unfortunate frickers that can't just snap out of it. Sometimes I'm completely paralyzed, but I find that there are times when I'll struggle to move for quite some time and will be able to slowly drag myself out of bed/off of the couch - think of it like moving around in an extremely thick liquid where it feels like I'm putting 100% effort to move but my entire body weighs 10x normal.
I don't often get a strong sense of another presence in the room, but there is the psychological feeling of dread. That sometimes last for the rest of the night; just can't seem to shake it.
I also suffer from "night terrors" and sleep walking. Either of those are rare these days but were quite common in adolescence.
I started a thread on it last night.
