The one bad thing about being single for extended periods of time is letting someone into your life/personal space. It is a major adjustment for me

Does that basically mean you've given up hope on being in a relationship? Once men enter their 40s single, is that when y'all have given up on idea of marriage or are still dating/f-ing around? Just wondering, that's all.

I got divorced one time and decided being a serial stalker was a better option.

Again, I will throw an honest answer your way. I have not given up on the idea at all....but I don't actively seek a mate either. Realistically, I know the odds are probably against marriage at this point, but you never know. I would date, but I really haven't found a lot of people who are worth my time.

I had a revelation not too long ago that I think everyone can take to heart: one's happiness should not depend on another person. There is a certain person out there that I would date right now....but she has her own set of issues currently that may take a while to iron out. We really aren't even communicating right now. She has said for about 2 weeks that she was going to call me and talk about things going on in her life, but I haven't heard from her. I text her about once a week just to see how she is doing, and I just get short responses, sometimes 2-3 days after the fact. She appreciates me checking on her and says she will get back to me later. I know she isn't "blowing me off". It is not like that at all.....she just has a LOT going on and she is just recently out of a very -long term relationship, to boot. Long story short, I spent a good bit of time worrying "why isn't she getting back to me" and "what is going to happen with this", etc. Then it dawned on me....I should not waste my time stressing over this. I was perfectly happy before she came back around (we have known each other on and off for about 15 years) and there is no reason for me to not be perfectly happy now. It is silly for me to not be happy just because I don't know what our status is and I have no idea what is going on. I hope this makes sense...

Marriage is like the super bowl for women. That's the only reason they even date or have sex. They all want a ring, financial stability and most importantly the appearance that they're happy. Women grow up differently than men. Growing up as a boy you wanted to be a football player or something. Girls just grow up thinking about getting hitched. When the right one comes you know. But all these idiots that are getting married at 21 to girls who have no values or goals in life will soon realize what a huge mistake it was.

Why would I? If one comes along that has potential, then I will go for it (like the one mentioned in my last post). By "actively seek", I mean that I am not on every dating app out there, I don't go to bars to look for women, and I don't ask friends to set me up. If something great falls into my lap, then so be it. If it doesn't, then that is ok too because I am happy with where my life is right now. But I will be damned if I am going to let someone in and make me unhappy. People do this all the time and I just don't get it. It is like they just have to be with someone and their attitude is "better to be with someone shitty than nobody at all". To me, this means they are not happy with themselves as a person. I am the total opposite of that.
