My understanding is that they are partners.

Dale finished my house about 2 years ago and now that he is gone (w/ Siegen), I've been dealing with his replacement for over a year, trying to get punchlist knocked out. Saw Dale about a month ago, and told him about my issues and he had one of his guys call me the next week to set up something to get issues taken care of. Like I said, I know nothing about the other Siegen guys, just Dale. I think it says alot about him that he is not even with the same company and will go ahead a still remedy my issues even though he no longer has a vested interest in his previous company.

I know nothing of Siegan7. If I were building now I would research them but my first choice now would be Steven Olivier. Great builder with all the attributes posted above me. No bullshite, schedule on time as much as any can be, budget correct because he knows how to estimate and any change requests are hashed out right then and both parties sign off on so at the end of the process there are no surprises.

Sienna Builders, Mark Spano would be my second. Very good builder with you in mind just a little pokey so prodding along is up to you. As long as you understand the process, in that there is no real process, and be aware that being attentive both would do well.

As I'm sure you know, patience, especially when building a custom home, is a virtue.

No Fussell. Whatever you do. Get your lawn boy to build it before him.

Me, he built my next door neigbors house in Santa Maria and kept cutting my phone and cable service wires. We came close to fisticuffs on that deal. What an a-hole and my neighbors house flooded several times due to the driveway graded towards the house.

I used to deal with Tom and Brian A LOT when I was in BR, and you will not find nicer guys to work with. They cared about their homes, customers, and the building process. In my mind - you can not go wrong with them.

Thanks. I know Steve pretty well. He helped me find a couple of properties that I purchased in the last year. I don't think that he is building anymore, maybe you know otherwise.

Are you saying that Spano is a good builder but he has to be pushed to get the job done. I don't know if that would work with the wife, a type A++++ personality.

How this guy stays in business I will never know.

Thanks.

Anyone else?

If tom still there he is a guy that handles issues well.

Remember anytime you build
1. Every time you make changes it delays the project and increases cost.

2. Millwork especially wood windows and doors you got 2 weeks to 1 month out.. Yup always have one that breaks or some delays which delays blacking in the home. Always have your millwork package ordered before the slab is poured.

3. Murphy's law things do go wrong what makes the builder great is how he or she fixes the problem.

I agree with this statement. This is precisely what concerns me about what I have been hearing about Siegen 7.

Don't think Fussell is building any more houses. Dude has a shite ton of legal issues going on from people who he built houses for. I can honestly say that I have never heard a good thing about Fussell. Amazing that people would actually use him considering he can't have many satisfied customers. I am pretty sure Dale is now a partner with the Siegen 7 guys. That's the reason he left his previous company.

Bump for the afternoon crowd.

Additional comments/experiences with any custom builders in the Baton Rouge area would be appreciated.

I thought Olivier might not be doing much. You know more than me but the guy built great houses.

Spano is very good but yes you have to push him along. Not a big deal if you want to do that. Some can some don't want to. It's a personal preference. I enjoy the process so it's not a big deal for me since I'm used to it anyway. My wife would rather be strapped to an electric chair before dealing like that.

Are you building in Rouzan? I like how it's turning out.

No, not Rouzan, but not very far away off Stanford.

I have been searching the net for any websites for Spano but have come up empty. Do you have a website you could link for me?

Thanks

Try Element Construction. He built on the Northshore for Biggs Harrison for years and returned to BR about 2 years ago to start his own company. Do you have plans and the lot? You should give him a call and get a bid from him. He is great builder with unparalleled attention to detail.

I personally would do more looking around before going with Siegan 7. I'm not going to blast them on this site but be careful with them. Tom is a great salesman and his website is top notch with the logins and progress updates. People really like that but in the end every project is over budget. And I don't mean a few thousand dollars. I know several people who have used them and they are not happy and has nothing to do with Murphy's law like mentioned above.

Two I would use
Nick Schramm. Schramm construction.

Todd Normand. Bernhard Normand construction.

I'm in this field fwiw.
Where are you building? I can give you more recommendations.

Yes, I do have plans and the lot. When are you going to get your website up and running. I clicked the link and it's under construction.

Biggs Harrison's work looks really nice.

Does element have any experience with contemporary/modern homes?
