Shreveport is not nearly as bad as Tigerdroppings makes it out to be
I think you are correct. But I noticed a significant difference between when we first moved there in 2004 to when we moved away in 2022. The Barksdale commander told his airmen to stay out of Shreveport. The school system was fricked and wasn’t getting any better. My first teaching job was at Woodlawn and it was taken over by the state, my second was a middle school that changed its name so they wouldn’t. The juvenile jail was packed and needed to be doubled in size. Every shooting was a guy with a mile long rap sheet.

I lived in South Highlands. It was a gorgeous neighborhood. We got monthly front yard camera alerts from kids looking in our cars.

Having said all that, I probably could have lived out my days in Shreveport. We’d carved out a pretty good deal.

I wish I could get my parents out of Shreveport...

I’m in the same spot, but they have friends and some family left.

I actually don’t mind visiting. They live south of town, and rarely have to go deep into Shreveport.

However, I was visiting over the summer and witnessed a car chase through the Superior Steakhouse parking lot, and the dumbass crashed into a car in the McDonald’s drive-thru. Several people got out and ran across Line Ave. The valet said they were breaking into cars in the parking lot.

Still don’t know if they were caught because it never made the news.

What were these Mexican guys sawing in the middle of a street?
They were getting their equipment sorted in their work trailer. I rolled in after dark and stayed for an overnighter, thank God.

Shreveport is a shithole. Sowwy.

They have lived in Shreve Island for over 30 years.

My Brother moved to Texas but still works for the Fire Department so he stays with them on his off days during his rotation.

My family moved 3 years ago.

We still have family there, but I'd love for them to find a place on Big Lake and truly retire.

Old enough to kill, old enough to get legally killed.

“Hell Monroe is worse than Shreveport”

My sister is a nurse on the administrative side at St Francis,Monroe.
She said they’re having a hard time recruiting Drs. because of the crime statistics.

I mean it holds like 15 kids at a time and is one of 3 or 4 in the whole state. Doesn't take much to be "packed".

If you live in the center of any city with 200k people, you're going to have people checking for unlocked cars on the regular. It is this way in every major city in this state.

Woodlawn has been hood since the 90s

In the middle of the street? I know where you are talking about. There is no reason to stop there and get things sorted in their work trailor.

I had family that lived in S. Highlands and you're right, that was a great neighborhood. Unfortunately regular Highland is pushing up in there now, and everyone with money and sense has fled to the Southern Loop or Bossier.

Another Clyde Fant shooting after we just made international news when Kenyan immigrant Uber driver was murdered on Clyde Fant.

As somebody else said, it was on the Parkway Service Rd., and apparently the actual shooting took place further down E. Washington.

Still sucks- we used to party at a friends house on Oden. Busted my chin open and had to get stitches at Mardi Gras one year. That was the most blood spilled that I remember.

I'm happy to be tucked away in my own little corner of Shreveport, but shite like this makes me terrified for my kids to be driving down the Parkway and get caught in the crossfire.
