Didn’t they ban head shots with the chairs?

Why if it’s fake?

I stayed up until midnight on the weekends to watch MidSouth wrestling. I was about 12 or 13 years old. Watching JYD was my favorite. During the matches, I would be pump fisting and clapping and really getting into it. I even began watching WCW out of Atlanta. My favorite was Big Red.

Then around 16 years old, my next door friend and I were hyped about WestleMania One. The next few days, I looked in the Baton Rouge newspaper to see who won the main event. My dad laughed at me and said “ wrestling isn’t real”. That’s why the results were not published in the newspaper.

Or, just let them figure it out?
I think it's more fun to believe, kinda like Santa Claus.

Gone through this a few times, but when I was a kid before wrestling was really revealed to be a work, we used to spend most weekends at my grandparents' house watching wrestling... the whole family. People took it very seriously. Everyone was into it as if they were in the arena.

I never had a problem with it being make-believe. My issue always came from the people that ruined it for me, like they took some joy in telling me. I don't get those types of people that like to ruin other people's fun.

They should be able to figure it out at age 8 or 9. The real questions is "why would you want them to watch that crap?"

I often asked the believers why, if it was real, there was no coverage in the sports section of the paper. I’d also ask them to check with Vegas about betting on a match.

Not to mention, if a 300 pound man holds a guy by the hair and hits him in the face repeatedly with a fist, said face will fracture.

It never convinced them.

What’s funny about your sort of story is that my brother and I were big believers who grew up watching Mid South.

But, for some reason, when we’d wrestle at home, we worked all the moves just like the pros to not hurt each other.

We never figured out that they were taking care of one another, too.
