Shut it down and call it a day. Season passes to Audubon for the win.

If we're talking about North BR / Baker... yes.

If the independent study that BREC had conducted is accurate than it makes financial sense to move it. I do question how it would cost the same to build a new zoo vs a renovation to the current one.

But don't you realize that moving the zoo is the lynchpin for the new BREC taxes? The magic formula for more taxes is always tied to some touch-feely something - libraries, parks, zoos, trails, puppies, kittens, etc., etc. etc. etc.

Why is it an option to move? Is it in the hood or something?

Brec employees were allowed to run it into the ground and sell off the animals to other zoos.

At this point BR can not afford another zoo. Brec wants more money to allow their zoo administrators to squander, no Thankyou.

If they cannot partner with private companies then shut it down.

I agree but if they are going to choose between moving it or renovating it and it costs about the same than I don't see how anyone could argue that leaving it in its current location is a wise choice. Shutting it down should be a third option but that seems to be off of the table.

Not sure I’d call it hood. It’s just an older more remote area of the parish that most people would just a soon forget, and have. The surrounding area is not a very pretty sight, and Exxon makes it uninspiring. It’s just sad. I remember when it was better, but it’s never really been ideal to begin with. It’s just out of the way, and the limited traffic kind of kills the whole place.

I think it should move to a location more convenient to where the paid visitors live.

frick if I know where a suitable piece of land is available.
