For me, it would be case by case and the crime wouldn't be an absolute limiter. If the prisoner was a Shark Life type a-hole he wouldn't leave even if he was only doing a year for some misdemeanor. While someone in their 60s who was doing life for murder but had done 35 years and had been a model inmate from day one might get out for his mothers funeral for example.

Depends on the crime. A violent crime like murder, rape, armed robbery - frick THEM. Keep them parked in their little cage for the rest of their miserable lives.

jmho.

No.It costs extra to transport and guard a prisoner for that.

You lose certain rights when you're in prison.

imho, that should fall under the rights you lose.

No because it would cost taxpayers more money.

I think that ship has sailed. This is a rounding error when it comes to our spending on prisons/incarceration.

Prisoners that show a desire to be successfully reintegrate into society should be given the chance to do so and things like this would help in that regard.

Those who are habitual offenders should not.

Excellent point. We have to figure out a way to give people a real second chance at life or keep them in prison forever. Letting people out of prison where they cannot get a job or reintegrate into society has not been a great thing for the USA.

This is America in 2019, where a green piece of paper our government has assigned a monetary value to, matters way more than basic human decency and compassion.
