Lmao. There goes my major. The majority of my Chemistry Professors were foreign. Oh and my calculus professors.
I’d hazard to say the engineering program would be gutted as well.
Who needs science and math man? Its soooooo over rated. Science and math ain't never done nothing for me...what good is it? I would say more but I have to take my car that is infinitely safer than it would have been 20 years ago to the Apple store to get my new iPhone and then I have a doctor's appointment to schedule a cancer treatment that wasn't available 5 years ago....and then I will be busy watching 10,0000 streaming TV shows over my fiberoptic internet connection. Math and science? Who needs it?????

I don't know what the total amount is, but I can tell you, a large percentage of kids from Texas are offered in state tuition at SEC schools.
My son and a lot of others were offered in state tuition from Ark, LSU, OM, KY, and AL
There are a bunch of regional MOUs that allow out of state students to attend bordering state schools as in state students if there is space available. Space available means a kid from New Mexico can go to school at Texas Tech, for example, if a kid from Texas is enrolled at New Mexico State, for example. My son was a resident of New Mexico and later Washington state and attended UC Boulder at in state rates on one these agreements. The open space thing is waived if there is not a school in the state offering the degree program....I know a kid who went to Texas Tech from New Mexico at in state tuition because New Mexico, then, did not have a public school of Veterinarian Medicine, might have today. According to him about 10% of his class was from New Mexico.

Yes. Having to compete against smart people around the world makes your native population better.
That’s the way of the world, compete or gtfo.
Except China, since we should not be training our enemy.

When I was at LSU I dated a French gal and a Greek gal. We also had a Chinese student in my Russian class, back when Chinese students were very rare.
And on the flip side, I have two kids who are going to study at European universities in this next year.
There is no problem with foreign students at American Universities, just like there is no problem with Americans studying abroad..

Without Iranians, there would be no classic stories about the smells in the Stadium dorms

Any state university funded by taxes should be required to admit in-state students 1st
They give massive discounts for in-state people because of the taxes.
And you'd never want to admit a 2.5 GPA 23 ACT in-state kid over a 4.0 32 out-of-state kid. This premise is silly.
Foreigners is a different conversation, but if they're here legally on student visas or whatnot, qualified and pay tuition, I welcome them.

Nah I think LSU should be able to admit and hire whoever they see fit. I do agree that they should prioritize "in state" students that meet the requirements and offer them more affordable tuition.

In college, I was good friends with a group of about 10 guys who were all from the Middle East. Unsurprisingly, they were all petroleum engineering majors.
Besides the fact that they were good people, their international tuition fees were crazy high. I think somewhere in the ballpark of 3x what out of state students paid.
I’m not exaggerating when I say they cheated on literally every single graded assignment; homework, quizzes, tests—you name it. Then they all graduated and went back to their home countries.
So my stance would be that if those guys weren’t taking spots from Louisiana natives, why shouldn’t they be allowed to attend? I think the fact that they pay so much more tuition is an incentive to find a balance where foreign students, in some capacity, always have a place at LSU.

I would be open to banning it at the state university level. Wealthy foreigners just use the American university system to fast track citizenship status. Which is fine, they usually stay, assimilate, and work professional jobs. I think the system gets out of hand and inflates the university budget, which then becomes a burden to the local students and tax payers.

This is an indictment of the public school system. There's no excuse for this.

Start attempting to openly bash the place that is allowing you to learn from them, then it’s time to go. Pretty simple.
If there is free speech in that country, your opinion on that country shouldn’t matter to the government.

Nowhere does the OP say anything about “foreign born” citizens.
