Agree on red flags. Just addressing the bag check comment.

My wife teaches at a public school in north Baton Rouge that was remodeled a couple of years ago. All the classrooms now have two buttons to press incase of an emergency. One is for the police and the other is for a ambulance incase something goes down. She can just press the button and they will respond immediately to that classroom instead of going to the office and taking longer.

The mentally ill and ignoring thousands of warning signs is the issue
I definitely think a lot of that falls back on parents too. I still can't believe nothing came from his social media posts which were disturbing
But I agree, backpacks are not the issue
But it takes time for these people to reach this point.

Another thing my school district has implemented is less homework to relieve stress. A kid committed suicide recently.

Less homework to reduce the chances of possible suicide?
Thats a first
I havenn't seen anyone do that before but if a kid has a mental condition, usually its addressed between parents and teacher. Just between them and with that the teacher can make accommodations

This country is worlds worst about knee jerk reactions for feel good response to symptoms, not root causes.
We have been doing homework forever and now it’s causing suicides??
Or maybe our culture has completely changed with all the “on demand”satisfaction that when people face adversity (which we water down now) they freak out and lash out not knowing how to overcome

Yeah, I don’t know if there is a hard solution for abstract causes.

I'd like to know some additional facts before we try to fix these systematic issues.

How does someone fit an AR into a backpack I call BS. I work in school systems and all doors are supposed to be locked and buzzed in by the secretaries and checked in at the front desk!!!

I feel like we learned so much more today in one day with videos and computer searches from this situation, than we have with the Las Vegas shooting that occurred months ago

So what do you think really happened then

This was a school shooting. That was a domestic terrorist attack.

An AR can be broken down with one pin. Easy to fit in a decent size backpack.
Not that it matters in this case. A non student just rolled on to campus no issue

I don’t know if that’s a subtle tin foil comment or what.
Another school shooting...ho hum. Let’s wait for facts to do nothing effective.

Could be attached to the side of it (backpack) broke down in upper and lower. Backpack could have rounds and magazines. I believe they said he had smoke and a gas mask.
