Prayers and thoughts for all victims
Time to build panic rooms in every classroom, period! Make panic rooms capable of giving shelter from Shooters, Tornado's, fire, etc...

Why havent the Italians, French, and Austrians seen this uptick in school shootings/murders?
They have better people than we have. Americans are a violent people.
The attention and publicity given to the Columbine killers was one of the worst things we have done in the past few decades. They were virtually given victim status

We don't have any new updates just yet.

You think those african countries tally it up when a whole school gets pressed into child soldiers by some despot?

I'm watching my local NBC affiliate and they have live interviews going on with the students as they come out of the school and are reunited with their parents.
It's news channel 5 west palm. They probably have an online feed going.

So now the thread strays away from facts and information on the tragedy and turns into a dick measuring contest with endless pages of meaningless back and forth arguments.

that is literally the exact argument that people cant stand on here when it comes to muslim immigration
Not literally.
Legitimate concerns regarding Muslim immigration are multifaceted and extend far beyond who is a potential terrorist among their numbers. There are numerous other concerns across a broad spectrum.
Guns are inanimate objects.
Your comparison fails terribly.

Yeah it's like other countries dont have mass murders or just perform out right genocide of their own people.

Wouldn't you say that around the time of columbine is when kids started to have access to the internet and cellular devices?
I remember as a kid in like 6th grade you could look up how to make a bomb off of the internet.
Like I said, its completly on the shooter and parents, but I believe there is a strong corolation with the interenet and social media.
Social media also destroys kids. They see stuff, they know what people get away with, they know ideas from previous events. Youtube is a easily accessible database to find anything.
Im prior service military with a shite ton of guns, but I bet there are more kids out there that know more about guns and other weapons than I do. I dont have a need to look up and know what every gun is and does, but guess who has plenty of time to do that stuff, kids. Why? Because parents are stuck to their damn phones.

I generally make it a policy to not argue a point of view if I don't understand the subject at hand.
Many people in this thread need to do the same.
He was asking a question. If you know the answer, educate him rather than belittle him.

Umm violence has been way up in these countries...but that is mostly due to Africans and Arabs
That's not entirely true, there have been studies showing that violence is attributed to immigration and other studies showing this is not the case.
I stand in the camp where violence follows poverty and poverty follows violence.

I was reading through the thread hoping to get some updates but instead all I see are a bunch of you idiots arguing about gun laws.
Name confirmed to be Nicholas Cruz
Just transported from hospital, presumably to police station.
Kids interviewed on tv saying multiple dead bodies in hallway.
The shooter was banned from carrying a backpack on campus last year because of concerns over previous threats he had made.
Two separate IG accounts, both with about a dozen photos from 2015 to summer 2017 showing guns. One IG account had post about aloha snackbar and followed Syrian resistance and Iraq IG pages. This IG page was deleted. Other IG page the profile pic is guy wearing a MAGA hat. This IG page is still up.

When I was in high school in the 80's, every baw had his 12-gauge shotgun on a rack in the back window of his truck. We never worried about school shootings, nor had we heard of it happening.

Many small schools still are like this.
