Hydro is a perfectly fine source, but how will you power the grid with hydro? It's not possible.

I never said it was.

You said anything besides hydrocarbons was virtue signalling. You were wrong.

Personally, I think more nuclear nuclear power would be a good idea. I guess you think that would be virtue signalling.

But how could anyone argue against being dependent on one single source of energy? Wouldn't it make sense to have a diversified energy supply?

The weird thing is, just because I mentioned hydropower, you automatically assumed I suggested the entire grid be powered by hydro. People do this all the time. Mention solar, eyes roll and people will tell you, "How are you going to power the grid at night?" Every time.

Solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, gas, oil, coal, tidal, hydrogen... Why would we ever think we had to choose just one?

The grid needs on demand sources (fossil fuel) that follows the load demand.

Of course it does.

Or nuclear.

I have no idea, but they're certainly getting something. They aren't going through purchasing, installing and maintaining a 35 foot long turbine in the MS river for 35 kW peak output, I can tell you that.

I don’t disagree but having private funding vs a subsidy is very different. It appears they’re mostly private funded.

Either way, the dollars are ultimately being generated by the taxpayer.

Enviros are already complaining about fish kills from impingement. Seriously.

As strong as those currents are, I wonder why this hasn’t been done before?

Sydney A. Murray Hydro-electric plant was built in 1990 in Blackhawk Louisiana using outflow from the Mississippi river to the Red River via the old river control structure.
