That's really shitty to be putting out false spotter reports.

The spotter in question apparently has a history of sketchy reports. She had a few in the last Arkansas round. They have to ban her from the network after this.

Part of me wants that person to have the same legal penalties as filing a false police report or fake calling 911, but the other part of me wonders if that would drive people to be more cautious and not report a real sighting.

This isn't like the average person standing on their porch, seeing a tornado in the distance, and reporting it to the NWS on Twitter or their favorite local weather person.

These type reports are made on what is called the Spotter Network. Those who use it are, presumably, trained spotters who (I think) are given an ID number that they make reports under. I don't think the person facing some sort of negative ramifications for her actions would influence the average person from making a report.

It ain't cheap, but is a one time fee at least.

And I can go back and get archived radar data and do some hardcore breakdowns and obviously has some usefulness during ongoing storms.

Still trying to find the perfect color table, but what I have right now looks pretty good.

Wow. What kind of a-hole must a person be to do something like that?

For me it's a whole different ballgame with a trained spotter on a network that only takes reports from trained spotters and some baw who sees something that looks like a tornado.

You're not going to put out a warning based on ole boy, but you'd at least think about it with the spotter reporting it.

ETA: I finally pulled the trigger and paid for GR2 instead of playing the game of getting a trial for each version. So full power radar activated.

I like the looks of the "new" site. The overall layout looks better. I'll check out the hodograph post tomorrow when I get a chance.

Doing a case study on a storm right now for my final radar project

Care to say which storm? Or is it just a random one?

I love a good case study.

I did one on the Nashville 2020 tor for mesoscale and it was the most fun i ever had working on a project. Spent a lot of time on the radar pointing things out too.

How much does it cost? I'd probably be interested in buying it as well.

Dam son

I would probably use it enough to justify the purchase.

It's pretty awesome and making the commitment of having GR2 on my laptop and using it shows you're real and is probably why I'm gonna get this radar met job. They splooged over me talking about using it.

I thought about getting it a while back, but I'm pretty sure it would melt the personal laptop I have right now.

Its got such an array of tools you cant get on any other platform. Can go through a ton of tilts and see all the way through a storm. Use cross-section to see how high a TDS went and spot bwers/other features of interest.

Im sure its part of why The Boat fell in love with radar met this semester, because you have everything you need to put that learning into practical action.

Watched a few videos on it. Looks enticing.

I'll probably end up getting it soon.

I've always been jealous of the tools local TV mets have. There is a few things with GR2 that would enable me to view those things personally.

Thanks for mentioning it because I wouldn't have known.
