Didn’t see a thread. Looks to be high risk for tonight.
Oklahoma Mesonet
@okmesonet
We're at 91 tornadoes thus far in 2024, the 6th-highest total on record in Oklahoma through May. Mother Nature has definitely overachieved this spring, and today's potential could be the highest we've seen yet.
NWS Storm Prediction Center
@NWSSPC
An outbreak of severe thunderstorms is possible from late afternoon into tonight. The most numerous and intense storms are expected across portions of OK, KS, MO, and TX. Remain aware of approaching thunderstorms, so you can take quick action if warnings are issued for your area.

Natural selection at work.
God and the universe are giving not-so-subtle clues that we smart people know to not live in goddam Oklahoma.

I’d take my chances with a tornado in OK over a carjacking in NOLA

Hell, it forgot about Oklahoma and the Plains for several years. The Plains are back and Tornado Alley, in fact, isn't dead. It is just that the reprieve is over. It just sucks that they're trying to make it all up in one season.

Good luck OU today and everyone else in the plains. Hoping today is a bust and the weather pattern slows down which is should into next week

There's a chance. It is a high ceiling, but there are a couple things that could limit it.

Tornado alley seems to have ended its vacation in central Ms and gone back home.

Did I read that there won’t be a lot of storms, but the storms that do develop will have potential to be dangerous?

I have been gone a week and no water in my rain gauge. Looks like another brutal summer with drought added to the mix, again.

Hopefully not.

On that first picture, it has extreme drought in the badlands of New Mexico.
Isn't that normal for there?

It is relative to the "Normal" for the given area. Drought in a given area is judged against the average rainfall for the area. So, it is really no different than any other area being in extreme drought.

All I know is that it’s hot as shite outside here in Walker LA. If this is a prelude to what July and August has in store for us then we screwed.

Yes, that appears to be the case. If one blows up nearby - be mindful. Am watching in North Texas...
A for the recent uptick...this season seems more typical than the recent few. Have been in North Texas since 1990
