National Weather Service Dodge City KS
1020 PM CDT Sun May 18 2025

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Northeastern Kiowa County in south central Kansas... Southeastern Edwards County in south central Kansas... Northwestern Pratt County in south central Kansas...

* Until 1100 PM CDT.

* At 1020 PM CDT, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located near Haviland, moving northeast at 25 mph.

This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado.

Greensburg storm has twins now. They're both at the back of the meso, which is weird. May be occluding and starting to cycle.

If that tornado was as big as it looked it probably had at least one satellite tornado. It occluded, and now the main tornado looks to be occluding.

Looks like the Kansas tornado is falling apart now. However, it appears a new rotation is trying to get going further south as the two cells merge.

Way too close! I play tennis out there a lot of have many friends in that area. Glad your son and his family is safe!

Yes. He said infant didn’t even know lol, but I reminded him to have a plan no matter what. Said they did. His wife was a bit on edge mainly because of baby but he’s pretty mellow so didn’t panic.
