History belongs to everyone you ignorant fool. You don't get to pick and choose history or what parts you get to deny or remember.
Would you be good with the MLK statues being taken down? He is part of history.

Hey, there's an idea. Maybe they'll put MLK up in place of Lee.

They might just do that. And I wouldn't have a problem with it if Mitch wouldn't attempt to cherry pick what parts of history to remember to pander to a certain demographic.
I personally don't care about the monuments themselves, what I care about it how they are being taken down and not putting it to a vote of the people

Here's my Lee story,

My grandmother used to say, "Oh Dawlin, General Lee was a true gentleman. He dressed impeccably. He was a true Southun' gentleman, dawlin. You just don't know."

And that's why I want the statue to stay.

Were black people allowed to vote when they put them up originally?

Of course not. Why not let them vote to take it down? Are you trying to say we should deny their right to vote now?

I would love to see this. A city vote on the statues. Instead of just moving them somewhere else, a vote on whether to destroy them or not. I wish they would have gone this route instead. Then when the vote came in to destroy them, we could watch this board melt even harder.

Do you really think a city that is 60% black is going to vote to keep Confederate statues? You would maybe barely get a majority of white people. But every minority is going to vote to blow them up (those that bother to vote). The results would be a landslide..

I disagree on 100% minority voting to destroy them. There are plenty of older wise blacks that not only appreciate the history of the city but are smart enough to know that you can't just erase history. but I guess we will never know since Mitch is the new dictator of NOLA
